Matariki
Matariki celebration
A time for taking care of the land
Time to share stories about family
A Time to make kites and fly them
Reading stories of the old days
It is time to learn how to weave
Kaimoana to gather for the winter
It is time to forget the past

Purple
Purple
Purple is the colour that reminds me
about purple spring flowers blooming bigger.
Purple is the colour of my shoes that I
wear everyday.
Purple is the colour of fear.
Purple is the colour of my jacket that I leave
at home.
Purple is the colour of the vase my mum puts
in the living room.
Purple is the colour of cotton candy that you
see in carnivals.
Purple is the colour of an octopus floating
through the water.
Purple is the colour of the walls I look at everyday
in my classroom.
Purple is the colour of grapes sprouting slowly on
the vines of a grape tree.
Purple is the colour of my least favourite
vegetable beetroot.
Purple is the colour of eggplant growing one by one
on a beautiful green stalk .
Purple is the colour of a starfish resting peacefully

conscientious objector_Rashid
Dearest Mother,
I hope you are well and
that you are safe.
I hope you have
enough food to eat
and that you
support my decision of
not joining the Army.
How has the
weather been down in
New Zealand? I miss
home so much,
especially spending time
with my brother.

How has the

New Zealand? I miss
home so much,
especially spending time
with my brother.
I have decided to write
to you to
let you know my main
reasons for being a
conscientious objector.
One of the reasons
I chose not to be in
combat was because
I have sensitive skin.
This means that if my
skin gets exposed
to citrus from fruit it
causes my skin to have
rashes.

Another one of my main

hat I get growing pains.
It means that when I grow
I feel a pain
on my legs. So if I run
it hurts painfully.

I don’t believe in war.
It’s wrong to hurt
other people and
end their lives.
It’s wrong to hurt
other people and
end their lives.
I was taught not to
hurt other people
because it’s wrong and
I have a lot of
responsibilities to take
care of at home.It’s
hard when I am only twelve.

My camp poem
My Camp Poem
Stumbling up the stony pathway
Getting tired as we go
Feeling exhausted and bored
As we walk I look down below
Exploring through the cabins
as sunlight burst through the door
I look at the view up sunrise hut
Suddenly I stare at the floor
Tripping down the steep path
Getting piripiri to the end
Hoping that were nearly there
Ecless I got my friend

The Interrupter
As I stepped outside I saw the clouds drifting across the sky, like a balloon floating slowly out of my eye site, as I stood in the driveway.
Jessica, the short play full girl, walked calmly across the road.
Disha ,the nice tall respectful girl ,was walking to class.
Mr Russ, the tall teacher, was walking to the four square.
